William Loyal
William Loyal, 88, of Kenton Hills, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood surrounded by his family.
He was the devoted husband of 61 years to Nancy who predeceased him in 2016. He was a loving father to his two daughters, Jan (Michael) O’Brien of Edgewood and Julie (Kevin) McGehee of Lakeside Park, and the incredible “Pawpaw” to his three granddaughters who he adored, Michelle (Todd Lefkowitz) O’Brien of Winston Salem, SC, Kristin O’Brien of Nashville, TN and Laura (Tyler) Felthaus of Portland, Oregon.
He was a Real Estate broker and owner of Dixie Realty for many years, retiring in the early 1980s to focus on real estate development. Bill was a member of Immanuel Methodist Church in Lakeside Park, enjoyed playing golf and treasured quality time with his family and friends. He was known for being the “Dog Whisperer” carrying dog bones to every occasion in his car and pockets. Every dog in the neighborhood made stops at his house for treats and love, sometimes showing up unannounced just to visit with him.
Bill felt blessed to have a wide group of friends who he loved as family both in Northern Kentucky with his Devou neighbors and Leesburg, Florida from the time he and Nancy spent escaping the Kentucky winters. He will certainly be missed by all those who knew him as he was one of the kindest and gentlest people you would ever meet. He had only kind words to share about others and a “glass half full” mentality his family hopes to replicate throughout the rest of their lives.
The visitation will be held Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Immanuel Methodist Church, 2551 Dixie Hwy, Lakeside Park, KY 41017 with a short service immediately following. Interment in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, KY following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Kenton County Animal Shelter, 1020 Mary Laidley Dr., Covington, KY 41017 or Children's Home of Northern Kentucky, 200 Home Rd., Covington, KY 41011.
