Thomas "Danny" Hein, II

August 27, 1965 — October 8, 2024

Edgewood

Thomas Daniel Hein II, Danny, age 59, found his peace on October 8, 2024. Born on August 27, 1965, he spent a lifetime building a legacy of love, integrity, laughter and hard work that touched everyone he met.

First and foremost, Danny was a devoted family man. Whether he was cooking a big meal, watching Bengals and Notre Dame football with the kids, or planning another legendary beach vacation, his family always came first. His love for them was as unwavering as the sunset on the Gulf of Mexico he so adored.

A proud railroader and union officer, Danny spent 36 years working on the tracks, sharing his wisdom with colleagues and friends alike. Danny loved railroading and was proud to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps. Of course, as a good Ludlowite, he belonged on the railroad! His work ethic was only matched by his ability to make friends wherever he went —you probably left with a new story and a smile.

He was also a dedicated leader in the Boy Scouts for 12 years, where he helped shape young lives passing on his love for the outdoors and strong values. He took great pride in being the father of an Eagle Scout, son Jack, and guiding numerous young men to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.

Danny adored his grandchildren, Charlotte and Levi, who were the light of his life. Whether he was encouraging Charlotte’s wild streak or admiring Levi’s chill personality, he made sure they knew they were loved beyond measure.

He is survived by his good and loving wife Paula who was his partner-in-crime for 27 years, his sons Zachary (Heather) and Jack, his grandchildren Charlotte and Levi, sisters Jeananne (John) and Katie (Rob), stepmother Bertha Hein, and a wide circle of friends who will never forget his quick wit, generous heart, and vast knowledge of well, just about everything!

We will be celebrating his life with a visitation on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 9:00 AM until the hour of Catholic Blessing at 11:00 AM all in Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, 316 Elm St, Ludlow, KY 41016. In true Hein fashion, let’s make this fun! Wear your flip-flops and favorite beachwear, your Boy Scout uniform, your railroad attire, or whatever you have, just be sure to join us!

We are going to begin planning for the next big beach vacation in Danny’s memory. We hope you think of Danny, with a smile in your heart, the next time you visit the beach!
