Riley Hurst

d. November 20, 2024

Ft. Wright, Kentucky

Riley Hurst, 21, of Ft. Wright, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, entirely too soon. Riley was an extraordinary individual whose light and spirit touched the lives of many in his community.

From an early age, Riley was known affectionately as ‘the Mayor of Ft. Wright.’ His beaming smile and welcoming greetings during his daily walks made him a beloved figure among neighbors and friends alike. Those who encountered him were uplifted by his joy, compassion, and unwavering eagerness to help others.

Riley's passions illuminated his journey through life, showcasing his remarkable talents and interests. A gifted musician, he displayed blue-ribbon skill in piano and various musical instruments, captivating audiences in school bands and local talent shows. His enthusiasm for music was not only evident in his performances but also in how he inspired those around him.

Riley was a proud graduate of Covington Catholic High School, where he shone brightly as a member of the school community. He received the 2021 Bill Snyder Community Award and was the only graduate that year “to letter” in Public Service throughout his four years. Moreover, he earned the Varsity Blake Cecil Award for his invaluable contributions as the Varsity Basketball Team Manager.

Despite facing daily challenges due to the ultra-rare KIDINS220 genetic condition, Riley became a beacon of inspiration for over sixty families worldwide who share similar struggles. His resilience and spirit spoke volumes about the strength of his character, motivating others to appreciate the beauty in life’s simple moments. Recently, he experienced the thrill of his first airplane ride, exclaiming, “This is me. I’m doing it!”—a testament to his adventurous spirit and zest for life.

Riley worked at Atria in Ft. Wright and TQL in Cincinnati, Ohio. Also, during his tenure at Point Arc he was featured in local news for his contributions at The Point Perk. His involvement in Point Arc programs highlighted his commitment to community and service. At the same time, his faith was a cornerstone of his existence, as he was a member of both St. Agnes Church and Solid Rock Church.

Riley is survived by his loving parents, Julia (Don) Brossart of Ft. Wright and Eric (Christine) Hurst of Independence; siblings, Lucas Hurst, Dylan Brossart, Lindsay (Noah) Feinauer all of Ft. Wright, Brayden Hurst of Covington, Travis (Kit) Boyle of Fort Collins, CO, Lauren Boyle of Independence; nieces and nephews, Karsen, Karter and Grayson Hurst and Travis Boyle, III; grandparents, Gail Hurst of Bronston, KY and Larry and Dianne Brossart of Ft. Mitchell.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Charlotte Nienaber and Dave Hurst.

He was also cherished as a nephew and cousin. Riley’s warmth and kindness will forever be imprinted in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

As we remember Riley, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and passion. He has left an indelible mark on our lives, and we are eternally grateful for the time we shared with him—a shining example of love and determination, teaching us to face each day with hope and joy.
