Michael "Mike" Moffitt, 71, peacefully passed away at his residence, Saturday, March 16, 2024 in Ft. Wright, Kentucky. He was a dedicated mechanical engineer for 40 years at Cincinnati Milacron. Mike's passion for classic cars and Beach Boys music was only surpassed by his love for spending quality time with family, especially when attending local sporting events. He was a proud graduate of Ludlow High School's class of 1970 and went on to make significant contributions to his community over the years. Mike has been the Kenton County Constable since 2012.
Known for his colorful personality as the self-proclaimed "Legend of Lorup" and the "Wizard of West Covington," Mike was truly loved in the eyes of many. He will be fondly remembered as a committed member of St. Agnes parish for over 50 years. He had many volunteer roles through the years. One of his most proud accomplishments was coaching a St. Agnes basketball team to earn the '78-'79 Kentucky Middle School State Runner-Up title. However, his biggest contribution was organizing the St. Agnes Mike Moffitt Basketball Invitational for an impressive 32 years. This event played a vital role in enabling numerous young individuals from St. Agnes to pursue their education at Covington Catholic High School and Notre Dame Academy.
In addition to his professional achievements and community service, Mike's dedication to the Covington Catholic Boosters for a decade showcased his unwavering support for educational initiatives and youth development.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Vickie Moffitt (2-8-2022); mother, Kathryn Moffitt; and brothers, Robert and Daniel Moffitt.
Mike is survived by sons, Chris Moffitt (Danielle Bell) and Jeff Moffitt of Ft. Mitchell, KY; granddaughter, Lainey; sister Peggy Brooks of Batesville, IN.
A Catholic Blessing to honor Mike's life will take place on, Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church,1680 Dixie Highway, Fort Wright, Kentucky. The family invites everyone to Covington Catholic Cafeteria, 1600 Dixie Highway, Park Hills, KY, immediately following the Catholic Blessing to continue celebrating Mike's life.
