Larry B. Slusher

March 5, 1949 — June 22, 2024

Ft. Mitchell

Larry B. Slusher, 75, of Ft. Mitchell, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his residence on, Saturday, June 22, 2024.

Larry's life was rooted in his family. Especially important was the bonds he formed with each of his grandchildren. Larry was also a testament to dedication and hard work, working his beloved Mainstrasse mail route (11016) despite chemotherapy during his first bout with cancer in 1996. Before working for the United States Postal Service for the 2nd time, he and his wife, along with his mother-in-law Shirley Ann, owned the Tumbleweed Restaurant in Fort Wright, where many fond memories were made by the masses. He worked for over 25 years for the United States Postal Service. Even after retiring officially, Larry continued to find joy in his work, serving as a Facilities Engineer at the Taylor Mill BP.  It was there that his love for people and messing with them was on full display.

Larry was a proud alumnus of Holmes High School, where he was a well-known standout baseball player. Larry often said, “Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog,” which proves his love for the Cov! Larry later went on to gain his bachelor’s degree at Thomas More College.

Larry was a man of many passions.  He loved any adventure, particularly the annual trips to Myrtle Beach, creating cherished memories with his family.  His 1957 Chevy Bel Air, affectionately named "The Big Red Tomato" by his mother-in-law, was a source of pride and joy and the symbol that the party was getting ready to start.  An enthusiastic supporter of Kentucky basketball, Larry's passion for UK basketball was infectious. Ultimately, Larry's love for his family was his biggest passion. He cherished every moment spent with them, especially his grandchildren, who will always hold a special place in his heart.

Described as kind-hearted and humorous, Larry's presence could light up any room he entered. His legacy will live on through the memories he created with those around him.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Roy L. And Gladys (Pursifull) Slusher, and sisters, Benny Sue (Norm) Holbrook and Laverne Troy.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 50 years, Gerri Slusher; son Justin (Jenny) Slusher; daughter Lara (Kevin) Sowder; grandchildren Abby Slusher, Jake Slusher, Luke Slusher, Nathan Sowder, Shawn Sowder, and Bo Sowder; brother Clark (Sondra) Slusher; and Wayne (Joyce) Slusher, as well as many nieces and nephews.
