Brenda Kaye Boone (née Jones) of Ludlow, KY, a cherished artist, educator, and beloved family matriarch, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 4, 1949, in Corbin, KY, Brenda cultivated a remarkable life marked by her artistic creativity, a dedication to her family and community, and, most importantly, her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.
Brenda was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati DAAP program with a major in Fine Arts and Art Education. She completed a degree at Antonelli's Art Institution of Interior Design. While at UC, she was the chapter president of the Delta Zeta Sorority and went on to start the first sorority at Northern Kentucky University, where she served as the chapter advisor. After college, she began teaching art at Campbell County High School and then established the art department at Ludlow High School, where she taught for eight years, inspiring countless young artists with her love for art and nurturing spirit.
In 1980, Brenda launched her own interior design business, which evolved into Artistic Galleries, a fine art gallery serving the Cincinnati art community. Brenda loved serving her customers, many of whom she worked with for nearly 40 years and considered dear friends. Brenda’s passion for art flourished throughout her career, and in 2004, she returned part-time to the paint studio to pursue her own work.
Brenda was not only known for her artistic talents, but also for her kind and welcoming personality. She had an extraordinary ability to connect with everyone around her, always ready to lend a helping hand. She attended Heritage Fellowship Church, where she was actively involved with women's Bible studies. Her involvement in various organizations reflected her dedication to service; she previously served on the Board of Directors for CareNet Pregnancy Center and as the President of the Ludlow Historic Society. Brenda had a passion for old houses and historic preservation; as recently as 2021, she began restoration of a Victorian home in Ludlow, KY, to use as her art studio.
Brenda is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Jesse Boone; her son, Joshua Boone of Ludlow, KY; daughters, Elizabeth (Jason) Allgeyer of Florence, KY, and Rachel (Ben) Townsend of Union, KY; grandchildren, Reagan Boone, Noah Allgeyer, London Townsend, Clayton Townsend, and Asher Townsend; her brother, Bill (Melinda) Jones of Brown County, OH; her sister, Connie (Gordon) Tetreault of Bluffton, SC; her nieces Trisha Jones of Lexington, KY, Michelle and Alicia Tetreault of Bluffton, SC; and her nephew Jason (Christian) Jones of Lebanon, OH. She was preceded in death by her father, William C. Jones, and mother, Reba Jones (née Ray).
