Barbara "Barb" Messer, 91, of Ft. Wright, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY, surrounded by her family.
Barb spent her entire career as a devoted homemaker, tirelessly supporting her children, grandchildren, and community in every way possible. Her family's happiness was her greatest achievement, and she was known for her boundless love and kindness. Barb was the heart of her family, often hosting parties, sleepovers, and cherished moments that created lasting memories for her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her role as a nurturing matriarch, Barb had a passion for sports; she was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. With her husband, Jim, who passed away on March 25, 2014, Barb was a staunch supporter of the Ludlow Vets and the Ludlow AC. She also dedicated many hours to volunteering at the Epworth Methodist Church's food bank, embodying her generous spirit throughout her life.
Barb is preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, James "Jim" Messer (3/25/2014); son, Mark Messer (4/30/2016); grandsons, Justin Messer (9/29/1998) and Adam Gifford (6/25/2013); and great-grandchild Daniel Miller Arhin (10/7/2022).
Survivors include her sons Garry (Susan) Miller, Daniel (Shelly) Miller, and Jim Messer; daughter Kim Gifford; daughter-in-law Peggy Messer; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ludlow Veterans, 830 Elm Street, Ludlow, KY, 41016.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 10:00 AM to the hour of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, all at Sts. Boniface & James Church, 304 Oak Street, Ludlow, KY, 41016.
The interment will be at Highland Cemetery in Fort Mitchell, KY.
Barbara Messer will forever be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion to her family, her vivacious spirit, and the joy she brought to all fortunate enough to know her. Her indelible mark on her family and community will continue to shine through in the hearts of those she treasured most.
