Alberta H. Townes

Alberta H. Townes, affectionately known as "Sherry," passed away peacefully on September 10,2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood. Born on December 4, 1935, in Hamilton County, Ohio, Alberta lived a remarkable life filled with passion and creativity.

Alberta dedicated her professional life to the beauty industry, working as a hairdresser for Geoffery VanSuys. She was not only skilled in her craft, but she also possessed a vibrant spirit that shone through in her pursuits as a professional singer and dancer. Her artistic talents delighted many, and she left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to experience her performances.

Alberta was a loving mother to her children, Audrey (David) Whitley of Burlington, John (Raúl Rodriguez) Gibson of New York City, and Greg Gibson.  She was also a cherished sister to Bob (Marsha) Shirin of Columbus, Ohio. Her legacy continues through her family, who will forever remember her warmth, strength, and creativity.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Rudolph Townes, and her son, Gregory George Gibson. Alberta was also mourned by her brothers, Floyd Shirin and Gregory Shirin, who have passed on from this world.

A visitation honoring Alberta will be held on September 16, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home located at 316 Elm Street, Ludlow, KY 41016. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place at the same location from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Following the service, Alberta will be laid to rest in a burial ceremony at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, 336 Old Taylor Mill Rd, Taylor Mill, KY 41015, starting at 12:00 PM.

Alberta H. Townes will be remembered for her contributions to the arts, her devotion to her family, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and creativity that will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
