Juanita Gettelfinger

Juanita Gettelfinger, 89, previously of Ft. Mitchell, passed away peacefully from this life on the bright spring morning of Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Highlandspring of Fort Thomas. Juanita was born on October 21, 1931 in Covington to Charles and Lauretta (Murray) Mulvey. She attended Holy Cross Church and Holy Cross School in Latonia, graduating in the class of 1949.  For over 50 years, members of her graduating class met monthly to continue their friendship for a lifetime. In addition to raising a family of five children, Juanita was employed at the IRS office in Covington and retired after 25 years of service in 1993. She was very proud to be selected to work on the S.A.T. team with the IRS. In her adult years, Juanita was a faithful member of St. Joseph Church in Crescent Springs and Blessed Sacrament Church in Fort Mitchell. Juanita loved to bake for her family; from the best pies, her specialty Easter coconut topped cake to miniature Christmas fruit cakes (the trick was the butterscotch morsels!).  Hobbies included crocheting, card games, scrabble, cryptoquip, jumble and crossword puzzles. Most of all she loved her family and instilled strong values and strong faith. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

The family would like to thank all the very dedicated and special staff at Highlandspring of Fort Thomas. Their untiring efforts and loving gestures during this past year of COVID were true gifts to our mother and all the family. They were an extension of her family and she loved them all.

Juanita is survived by her sister, Charlotte Whittle of Heath, TX; daughters, Kathy (David) Manning of Florence, Ann (David) Eickhoff of Ft. Mitchell, Mary Sawyer of Fort Thomas, Denise Gettelfinger of Sharonville, OH; son, Joe (Sharon) Gettelfinger of Villa Hills; grandchildren, Carrie, Bobby, Jason, Tri, Eric, Cassandra, Laura, Brian, Rachel, Ashley, Grace and Nick and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by Harold Gettelfinger; sisters, Marjorie Toebbe, Elizabeth Nilles, Patricia Klosterman, Lauretta Gettelfinger; brother, Blair Mulvey; 3 other infant siblings, Catherine, Mary Eileen and Billy as well as a granddaughter, Alicia Sawyer.

Visitation is on Monday, April 19, 2021 from 11:00 AM until the hour of Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM all in Blessed Sacrament Church, 2415 Dixie Highway, Ft. Mitchell.

Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
