Edward R. Planton, 95, of Hayesville, NC, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, Kentucky. He was a retired air traffic controller for 35 years with the Federal Aviation Administration and then completed his degree in finance at the age of 52. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy during WWII.
Survivors include his brother, Stanley Planton of Foxboro, MA and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou (Edelbrouch) Planton.
Graveside Service is on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 1:30 PM in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery, 582 Greenlawn Cemetery Road, Murphy, NC 28906.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Clay County Sheriff’s Department, 295 Courthouse Dr., Hayesville, NC 28904 or The American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
