Marie Maschinot Monahan, 97, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 20, 2019 in her home surrounded by family. She and her husband Ed owned and operated Monahan's Fine Foods in Ludlow for many years. She was retired from the dietary department at St. Charles Community in Ft. Wright. Marie was a member of Sts. Boniface & James Church in Ludlow where she was a member of the Alter Society. She enjoyed giving back to the community through service. She loved being with her family, having family cooking competitions, and was known for her famous pretzels. She also loved playing cards and bingo.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Edward George Monahan (2001), parents, Mathias and Otillia Maschinot, her aunt who raised her, Gertrude Kirby. As well as brothers, Mathias and Joseph and sisters, Dolores and Vera.
Survivors include her son, Edward C. (Diane) Monahan of Lexington; daughters, Fran (late Robert) Thomas of Ludlow, Sister Marla Monahan of Park Hills; grandchildren, Elizebeth, Rebecca (Justin), Michelle (Mark), Lauren, Julie and Megan; great grandchildren, Madison, Morgan, Bailey, Robert, George and Luke. As well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation is on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, 316 Elm Street, Ludlow, KY 41016.
Mass of Christian Burial is on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Sts. Boniface & James Church, 304 Oak Street, Ludlow, KY 41016.
Interment in St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas.
