Fern Marie Sparks, 88, of Lebanon, OH, formerly of Crestview Hills, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Heritage Springs of West Chester. She was the Founder and Director of the Central Learning Center at Central Church of the Nazarene in Ft. Wright where she won the State of Kentucky Early Childhood Education Award of Excellence for 20 straight years.  Fern earned her Masters Degree from Edgecliff College in Cincinnati and dedicated her life to education. When she was not teaching, she was working on lesson plans, taught summer classes at Mount St. Joseph College and tutored children in the community.  She was also an accomplished artist who created beautiful paintings and drawings as well as playing the piano.  Fern was also the president of the national Elvis Presley fan club.  She rode horses as a child and still loved them to this day.

Fern was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Sparks (1998) who was a wounded Korean War Veteran; parents, Joseph and Catherine Motz; sister, June Motz; and brother-in-law, Clyde Wells.

Survivors include her daughters, Susan Cashwell of Lebanon, OH, Lisa (Constantine) Tipis of New Richmond, OH; sister, Shirley Wells of Tampa, FL; grandchild, Joshua (Ashli Ward) Woodall; niece, Cathy Kurant of St. Petersburg, FL and nephew, Randy Wells also of St. Petersburg, FL.

Family and friends are invited to the Graveside Service on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, KY.
