Rita Marie Chalfant, 84, of West Covington, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood. She was a homemaker. Rita was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in West Covington. She was a member of Kelly Furnish VFW Ladies Auxiliary, St. Ann’s Ladies Committee, a volunteer for the Free Store through St. Ann’s Church and was a Kentucky Colonel. Rita was the most loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved taking ceramics, talking on the phone and shopping with her dear friend Barb and meeting with a group of high school friends for lunch. Most of all Rita loved being with her family.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 61 years Louis Chalfant, daughters, Lynn (Fred) Hildebrant, Nancy (Gary) Hedrick; sons, Lou (Patty) Chalfant, Don Chalfant; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Boles and brother, Bob Koenig.
Rita was proceeded in death by her parents, Hilda and Edward Koenig, brother, Bill Koenig and great grandchildren, Riley Hildebrant and Lucy Erskine.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM in Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, 316 Elm Street, Ludlow, KY with Mass of Christian Burial in St. Ann’s Church, 1274 Parkway Ave., Covington, KY at 12:30PM.
Interment in St. John’s Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, KY.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Ann’s Church, 1274 Parkway Ave., Covington, KY 41011.
