Donald Eugene Phelps, 87, of Ludlow, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at his residence, surrounded by his loved ones. He was a retired, self-employed painter and wallpaper hanger and former employee of Artistic Furniture. Donald was a member of Central Church of the Nazarene in Ft. Wright, was a talented woodworker and finish carpenter. Donald enjoyed fishing and loved his wife, children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his children, Mary, Kenneth and Herman Phelps; and siblings, Olivia Hildebrandt, Herbert Phelps, Thelma Richardson, Allean Rouse, Herman Phelps, Walter Phelps, Leonard Phelps, Charles Phelps, Gertrude Phelps and James Phelps.
Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Jewell Phelps of Ludlow; son, Donald (Edythe) Phelps of Ludlow; daughter, Jewell Marie (Michael) Cartales of Cape Coral, FL; daughter-in-law, Toby Phelps; 9 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Monday, September 14, 2015 from 11:00AM until the hour of service at 1:00PM all in Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, 316 Elm Street, Ludlow, KY 41016.
Interment in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell.
